The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's delightfully tacky biopic of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. The actor acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about capitalizing on the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, bad makeup and insincerity, though Chastain succeeds to depict the real-life figure with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
